Thought I would share with you a commission I am working on at the moment. The owner who is interstate has sent me some great photos to go by, plenty of angle with good light. This is the first time I have posted a 'work in progress' on my blog, quite a different experience, thought I would push the boundaries a little for a change. Will post next stage tomorrow etc until complete. I love getting the ground work done and then comes the building process until it comes to life. Her name is Layla, the size is 700cm x 480cm. Thanks for checking her out.
Thank you Winter Breeze, I appreciate your comments. Layla has been an absolute delight to paint. Will post the finished painting tomorrow. Cheers Lindy
I am a self taught Pastel artist who lives on a beautiful farm that I share with horses, cows, a kelpie called 'Dusty', plus an abundance of birdlife, wallabies, millions of rabbits, and the odd wild deer. My Nirvana.
I received the gift of working with pastels back in 1993 when I was diagnosed with cancer. Whilst undergoing Chemotherapy my mother convinced me to take up art as a form of distraction from the treatment. In doing so I opened the door into the wonderful world of pastels.
During my first years of pastels I found a huge connection with marine life - Dolphins, Whales, Beluga Whales and Seals, then later I focused on horses, pets, wildlife, land and seascapes.
As most artists that paint animals will tell you....'the eyes are the window to the soul'. The painting tells me when it is near completion, it is almost like the hair/skin that I am painting becomes real, that I can feel it under my touch, it becomes alive!
Commissioned Pet Portraits are my speciality, I love to capture their personality/character and immortalise them in a pastel portrait framed under glass.
Isn't it the best feeling when the magic happens?
Hope you enjoy my art.
Cheers
Lindy
